PENTSOS has taken another step towards empowering youth in vulnerable communities by constructing a smock weaving center in Bunjai. This initiative aligns with PENTSOS’ broader goal of creating sustainable jobs for 20,000 young men and women across the nation.
The newly commissioned center has already enrolled 13 young individuals who are undergoing training in traditional smock weaving.
To ensure the sustainability of the project, PENTSOS has provided a stipend to the facilitator for eight months and established a pig farm to generate additional income.
A management committee has been formed to oversee the center’s operations and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan. This collaborative approach will help ensure the long-term viability of the initiative.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Aps J.B.K Tawaih (Tamale Area Head), Ps. Yatimbo (Salaga Area Head), Ps Philemon Amoani (Bunjai District Minister), Ovr. Benjamin Asare Yeboah (PENTSOS Director), and Eld Ing. Frank Adutwum (PENTSOS Operations Coordinator).
With the establishment of this new center, PENTSOS has now empowered over 250 young people through its five weaving centers across deprived communities. This initiative not only provides valuable skills training but also creates opportunities for economic empowerment and community development.
