PENTSOS Commemorates Global Handwashing Day 2026 at Pentecost Preparatory School, Adwafo

In a continued effort to promote school health and strengthen sustainable hygiene practices among children, Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS) commemorated Global Handwashing Day 2026 at Pentecost Preparatory School, Adwafo, under the theme “Be a Handwashing Hero!”

The celebration  saw the donation of six handwashing stations and commissioning of a 10 seater washroom facility to support the hygiene needs of the school’s over 300 students. The intervention will help promote proper handwashing practices and contribute to a healthier and safer learning environment.

The commemoration also featured a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) quiz to deepen students’ understanding of proper hygiene practices, with participants receiving prizes in recognition of their performance. This was complemented by a practical demonstration of the correct handwashing technique, equipping students with the knowledge and practical skills to practise effective handwashing with soap and water as a key measure for preventing infections and promoting good health.

Through the integration of hygiene education and improved access to handwashing facilities, PENTSOS seeks to foster lasting behavioural change among schoolchildren and promote the adoption of healthy hygiene habits in their daily lives.

PENTSOS continues to advance its commitment to community development through preventive healthcare, improved school hygiene infrastructure, and child-centred interventions that contribute to healthier, safer, and more inclusive learning environments across Ghana.
