Give Jesus all the rooms in your heart Eld. Stephen Amoako Sunday, April 14, 2019 Gospel Sunday at PIWC, Atomic

This morning I want to speak to theme, “Give Jesus all the rooms of your heart.” In Revelation 3.20 the Bible says,

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (NKJV)

In Revelation 4.1 it says,

After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” (NKJV)

This word was written to the church and today it is written to PIWC, Atomic and anyone who hears us and listens to us and watches us. Christ Jesus is standing at the door of you heart and is knocking. He says that whoever hears his voice and opens his heart, he will come into the heart of that person and dine with him.

I chanced on this beautiful story that in World War II there was this strong German military officer. Along the line he missed the team he was moving with and was captured by the enemy forces and sent to their camp. He had only been married a few months so hadn’t had the opportunity to spend much time with his wife as the war broke out soon after they had got married—he had no choice but to deploy with his colleagues. He was tormented for many years, thinking about his wife but one day, he heard a voice saying, “Is officer so and so in” and he said, “I am in” and opened the door.

He was informed that there had been an arrangement between the Soviet Union and the German government. At long last he was going to see his wife. When the day come, he was released form prison. The door was opened and he saw light for the first time after many hears. When he got home he realized his community had been bombed and everything was gone but his house was standing untouched. He run to the house and called his wife. “Margaret! Margaret! I am home,” he cried with joy thinking that after many years he was going to unite with his wife. However, there was no response. He walked to the door and knocked. Margaret heard the voice and thought, “Oh my husband is back.” But for many years Margaret had not heard about her husband and assumed he was dead. She had gone in for a new husband. She looked through the window and saw her original husband but she could not open the door for him. She couldn’t’ open the door because there was an illegal occupant in the room. This is what the Bible is talking about. There is somebody in your house—your heart—and he is occupying it illegally. The legal occupant of the house is Jesus Christ and he is knocking on your door.

Margaret cried and cried. She missed an opportunity. There is somebody occupying your heart—somebody occupying a place in your heart. That person is an illegal husband. The right husband is Jesus Christ and this morning he stands at the door and knocks that whoever hears his voice and opens the door, he will come in and be with that person. Jesus wants to stay with us and wants every part of our hearts.

I heard another story. There was a man with a ten-bedroom apartment and one day he heard a knock on his door and, after opening, saw Jesus. He said, “My friend come and stay with me. I have ten bedrooms; take one of them and stay with me.” Jesus is a gentleman and does not force us. When you give him a chance, he will not force his way.

Later, he heard another knock on the door and when he went to open he saw the devil. The man was so afraid and walked to Jesus and said, “Save me.” Jesus said, “There are eight more rooms, give him one?” The man said, “If that is the case then take the whole first floor.”

He heard another knock another day and it was the devil. The man run to Jesus again and said, “It is the devil again.” Some of us have not given our whole hearts to Jesus; we see adultery; we see lies; we see backbiting and all sorts of evil coming because we have not given Jesus every room of our hearts. Then Jesus said, “There are more rooms left, give him one.” Then it dawned on the man that he had to give all the rooms to Jesus so he gave all of them to Jesus.

The next time when the devil knocked, the man was sleeping behind Jesus and Jesus went to the door and the devil met him there. It is written that at the mention of his name every knee bows. The devil fell at the feet of Jesus and said, “It is a wrong address. I salute your supremacy.” When the enemy came and Jesus was interrogating him, the young man, because he had given Jesus every room of his house, was hiding behind Jesus gathering some momentum and boldness. He no longer had to face the devil himself because Jesus was then fully in charge.

Beloved, this morning if you will give your life to Jesus, every part of your life—for some of us our feet are not for Jesus; for some of us our heads are not for Jesus; for some of us our hearts are not for Jesus; for some of us our bodies are not for Jesus. We have dedicated parts of our bodies to Jesus but other parts are not for him. But this morning Jesus says, “I want every room of your heart. I stand at the door and knock. Whoever hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with him.” The young man with all the fear—some of them had been imagined fear—

I remember those days when my wife was sick. After she had heard so much about the disease and what many doctors had said about it, she came tome and asked, “So, Nana Yaw, am I going to die?” This is imagined fear but this was not in accordance with the word. The word says I am the God that healeth thee. Sometimes the fear is not real but because Jesus does not have every part of your heart you think it is real. When the young man gave Jesus every room of his heart, every imagined fear was sucked away. Some of the fear is so real that you see it coming but when you give Jesus every room of your heart and every part of your body, even when it is real fear, he will put his hands around you and say, “My daughter, fear not; I am in charge. My son, fear not; I am in charge.”

Even when they give you the report and you know it cannot be changed, you put your trust in him because he is in charge. Jesus is Christ and he wants every room of your house—every room of your heart; not some part, not some rooms. For some of us on Mondays Jesus has no place in our lives. We have been able to segregate the days into working days and church days. We begin to prepare for church on Saturday night but when we step out he has no room from Monday till Friday but he came to announce that he doesn’t want any part of the rooms for he is Lord of lords. He does not share a room with anyone. He doesn’t share a room with any illegal person. He is the Lord. He knocks at the door of your heart and if you open today he will come in.

Yesterday I met a beautiful young lady with three beautiful kids. Her husband had passed on three years back. She told me, “Elder, for the past three years God has been faithful.” I asked her, “How did you know?” She said, “I know because I know.” She went ahead and said, “Jesus Christ has been my husband indeed.” For a young lady who had lost her husband in such a painful way to say that… She had given Jesus every part of her heart. For some of us, sometimes we see alcohol—I attended a funeral yesterday and the table was full of Guinness and some were grabbing three or four bottles. My heart was pumping and I was asking, “Won’t these people go to church tomorrow?” Some parts of their hearts had not been given to Christ.

Some husbands are mean to their wives because Jesus is not occupying the entire place of their hearts. It is about time that every part of your life begins to radiate Jesus the son of God. It is at that point that every bit about you speaks about Christ. Then you confess, “Not I but Christ.” And you can say, “Christ in me the hope of glory.”

Who wants to give Jesus Christ every part of his heart? Maybe for some days now or some years now you know that he is not occupying every room of your heart. Some of the rooms are locked and the security key has been put away. The key is hidden in a secret place that Jesus cannot see. You go to that room and do all the things Jesus does not like. But Jesus wants all the rooms. He doesn’t want to share with anyone because it is written in Revelation 4.1, I saw a door open and someone went through it but in Revelation 3.20 it was locked. Who wants to open the door this morning? Give Jesus the entirety of your heart.

Imagine you are standing before God and Jesus is standing before you today with his light radiating through you and me. What would Jesus see? Would he see that there is some part of your life that is not surrendered to him?
