The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye has cut the sod at the Nsawam Prisons for the construction of an ultra-modern correctional facility in July, 2019. The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by dignitaries from the Ghana Prisons Service and the Church of Pentecost. The correctional facility when completed, will accommodate 500 inmates with decent sleeping places, a sport complex, workshop and washrooms.
This brings to 2, the number of correctional facilities (Ejura and Nsawam Prisons) being constructed by the Church of Pentecost in collaborating with the Government of Ghana (GoG) towards improving on the country’s security and justice delivery system – thereby, fostering peaceful coexistence, inclusive societies and equal opportunities for all. Additionally, a complementary skills development training programme will be implemented in equipping the inmates with the skills necessary to facilitate their effective integration into society after they have served their respective jail terms.
